The gap
Hand-set medal times drift out of date whenever a course changes, and a skier that steers like a car feels wrong.
What it is
This template measures medal times with a test descent on the same physics and ties speed to the line down the hill.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
Acceleration follows the cosine of the heading, drag grows with the square of the speed and carving across the hill bleeds speed, so the fastest line is a smooth one.
When a run loads, the racing-line bot skis it with the same pure physics step; gold, silver and bronze are 4, 13 and 30 per cent slower than that descent.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
