The gap
A fifteen by fifteen board has too many moves to search, and a plain search misses open threes until it is too late.
What it is
Moves are ranked by a line classifier for both sides, only the best few are searched, and a four on the board narrows the search to the blocking crossings.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
All windows of five crossings are listed once with the windows through each crossing, so putting or taking a stone updates a handful of counters and the evaluation is a single pass.
Each crossing is scored by what it makes in four directions for both sides; two fours, a four and an open three, or two open threes count almost as a win, which is how the rivals build double threats.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
