The gap
Falling-sand simulations are fun for a minute but give the player nothing to aim for, and naive updates move cells twice or pile sand to one side.

The gap
Falling-sand simulations are fun for a minute but give the player nothing to aim for, and naive updates move cells twice or pile sand to one side.
What it is
This template stamps every moved cell, alternates the scan direction each step and adds challenges with goal zones and ink limits on top of the free sandbox.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
Each material is a short function: sand falls and slides, liquids also spread sideways, fire burns down its life and lights neighbours, lava cools when it meets water.
A challenge is a setup function, a goal zone and a counter, such as sand in the cup or stone made from lava; holding challenges instead fail when water or fire enters a zone.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
