The gap
Horror games for younger players often end up either too scary or with nothing to do but walk.
What it is
This template turns the spooky atmosphere into a timing game: ghosts pose for a moment, the camera rewards patience, and a missed ghost only costs a courage candle.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
Each ghost has a duration and a visibility curve (fade in, pose, fade out); the poltergeist peaks early, the grey lady stays faint, and the photo grade is the clarity times the framing.
A night is a length, a spawn gap, a ghost limit and a wanted list; film is computed from the expected number of ghosts, and one new ghost type is introduced each night.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
