What is inside
The Bulgarian rules, built in
Holidays follow art. 154 of the Labour Code with Orthodox Easter. A holiday on a Saturday or Sunday gives a day off on the next free working day, so Christmas on a weekend gives two days and 1 May on Holy Saturday moves past Easter Monday. The government's declared days for the euro changeover are included and can be switched off.
Sensors you can automate with
Working day today and tomorrow, the kind of day, the next day off with the start, end and length of the break, the next working day, and working days and hours this month, next month and this year. All of them refresh just after midnight.
School calendar
Pick grades 1 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 11 or 12 and get school-day sensors and a calendar of vacations and non-school days for 2026/2027, taken from the Minister of Education's order, including grade 12's shorter spring break and early last day. Flu holidays and a municipality's own days go in a separate list.
Actions for scripts
check_date tells the kind of any date, count_working_days returns days and hours between two dates, and add_working_days returns the date a number of working days later or earlier, for deadlines. Each returns a response you can use in templates.

A Home Assistant custom integration that knows Bulgarian working days, holidays, moved days off, declared non-working days and school days, and exposes them as sensors, calendars and actions.
Home Assistant 2026.10 or later (tested with Core 2026.10.0). It runs locally with no internet, account or extra Python packages, and installs by copying a folder or through HACS from your own private repository.
School years after 2026/2027 and government decisions made after the release come as updates; until then you add them as one line in the settings. Holidays of other denominations, which employees take as leave, are not included.
PN Scripts wrote the integration and checked it against published Bulgarian calendars for 2021 to 2027 and the 2026/2027 school order.
