The gap
A ball sports game needs stable collisions at speed and an AI that is beatable but not dumb, and rallies between two good players must not go on forever.
What it is
This template gives you sub-stepped physics, an AI tuned by a few numbers per opponent and rules that end long rallies, in a polished, touch-ready game.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
stepBall moves the ball in four sub-steps per frame and resolves the domes, walls and the net cap; tune gravity, jump and the speed cap at the top.
Each AI is a row in OPP: speed, reaction time, error, slip chance and jump willingness; predict() simulates the ball to find where to stand.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
