PN Scripts Price History for Discounts

A free WooCommerce plugin that records every price change and shows the lowest price in the 30 days before a discount. When the history cannot prove the number, it shows nothing.

Product page in a block theme with the lowest price in the 30 days before the discount under the sale price

What it solves

The gap

A shop in the EU that announces a discount has to show the lowest price of the 30 days before it. WooCommerce keeps only the current regular and sale price, so that number is not stored anywhere.

What it is

PN Scripts Price History for Discounts records each price change of products and variations, including scheduled sales, and calculates the lowest price in the period before the current discount started. A notice under the price shows it, or nothing when the history is incomplete.

How you use it

Install it, choose a rule preset under WooCommerce → Price History, and the notice appears once the history covers the period.

A display tool for WooCommerce. It shows nothing rather than a wrong number, it is not legal advice, and the merchant remains responsible for compliance.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • A WooCommerce shop in the EU that runs discounts and has to show the prior price.
  • Moving price history over from another price history plugin.

Built for

  • WooCommerce merchants selling in the EU.
  • Agencies and developers who run WooCommerce shops for clients.

What it does

Records every price change

Regular price, sale price and sale schedule of products and each variation, from the product editor, quick and bulk edit, CSV import, the REST API, WP-CLI and scheduled sales. Stored in its own table, only when the price changes.

The prior price, counted from the discount

The period ends when the current reduction started, progressive reductions keep the first start, and every price in force during the period counts. It is never shorter than 30 days.

Nothing rather than a wrong number

Gaps, short history and products already on sale when recording started make the result unknown, and then no notice is shown. The coverage report says why, product by product.

Classic and block themes

Product pages, shop pages, product blocks and the selected variation, plus a shortcode for anywhere else. Prices follow your shop tax display setting.

Brings existing history

A one-click, read-only import from three other price history plugins fills the time before the plugin started recording.

Translated

Bulgarian, Polish and German translations are included.

Questions

No plugin can promise that. PN Scripts Price History for Discounts records prices and shows the lowest prior price by the rules you configure. You remain responsible for your prices and how you announce discounts. This is not legal advice.

Because the history cannot prove the number yet: the product was already on sale when recording started, it is new and your rules hide the notice for new products, or prices changed while the plugin was inactive. The coverage report shows the reason for each product.

No. The free plugin adds the notice only. Recalculating the badge and the struck-through price from the prior price is planned for a Pro version.

Not yet. It is coming to WordPress.org. Until then, version 1.0.0 is available from the public GitHub repository.
