The gap
Duel games need a rule that is easy to read yet deep, an AI that can be tuned from easy to hard, and fair controls for two people on one keyboard.
What it is
This template has one three-line rule, an AI built on the same commands as the players, and an input map for two keyboards and touch.
How you use it
Unzip, serve the folder and open index.html, then edit game.js; npm test plays it again in headless Chrome.
Source code of a real, playable game to reskin and learn from, with a smoke test whose bot plays it.
Use it when
Built for
Reaction delay, parry chance and aggression are all derived from a single number, so a new rival is one line in a table.
Keys, touch buttons, the computer fencers and the test bot all call the same step, line and lunge functions.
Plain JavaScript and Canvas 2D; open index.html through any static server and edit game.js.
A headless Chrome test loads the game, checks the console, presses keys and taps, and lets the built-in bot play a run to its result screen.
