WooCommerce block checkout with Cash on delivery selected and a Cash on delivery fee line in the order summary, with a note under it

What it solves

The gap

Cash on delivery costs the shop a courier fee and carries the risk of refused parcels, but WooCommerce offers it with no fee and no limits. Shops either absorb the cost, write the fee into the product prices, or turn cash on delivery off for everyone.

What it is

Nalozhen charges a clear fee only to customers who choose cash on delivery, offers it only where it makes sense (by order value, delivery method and product) and tells customers what it costs or why it is not available.

How you use it

The cost of cash on delivery paid by those who use it, fewer refused high-value parcels, and no surprises for the customer.

For WooCommerce shops where many customers pay the courier, that want the cost covered and the risky orders kept to prepaid methods.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • A shop that passes the courier's cash on delivery charge to the customers who use it
  • A shop that offers cash on delivery only up to a set order value and never for pickup
  • A furniture shop whose made-to-order items must be paid in advance

Built for

  • WooCommerce shop owners in Bulgaria and the region where cash on delivery is common
  • Agencies and developers who set up checkout and delivery for those shops

What is inside

A fee that adds up

Combine a fixed amount with a percentage of the order value or of the items, set a minimum and a maximum, round to a step and waive the fee from an amount. Amounts can be typed with a decimal comma, and the fee line can carry tax in any tax class.

Offered only where it fits

Set the order values between which cash on delivery is offered, tick products and categories that must be paid in advance, and the subcategories follow. When a rule says no, cash on delivery leaves the payment methods and an order sent with it anyway is refused.

Rules per delivery method

Each shipping method in each zone gets a Cash on delivery part in its own settings: off for pickup, a higher fee for a courier to the door, other limits for another zone. Empty fields use the store settings, and courier plugins with their own methods get the same fields.

No surprise at the checkout

The fee appears in the totals as soon as cash on delivery is chosen and goes away with any other method. A short note says what it costs, that there is no fee from a certain amount, or why cash on delivery is not offered for this order.

Questions

A WooCommerce plugin that adds a fee and limits to the built-in Cash on delivery payment method: fixed and percentage fees, minimum and maximum order values, rules per shipping method and products or categories without cash on delivery.

WordPress 6.5, WooCommerce 10.0 and PHP 8.1 or newer, with WooCommerce's Cash on delivery method switched on. It was tested with WordPress 7.1.3, WooCommerce 11.2.1 and PHP 8.4, in the block and the classic checkout.

Fees for other payment methods, rules by customer or user role, and courier integrations (it works with the shipping methods they add). It does not decide whether a fee is allowed or how it is taxed; that is not legal or tax advice.

Made by PN Scripts, a Sofia studio that builds online shops for Bulgarian businesses, and tested with unit tests for every fee and limit rule, an end-to-end run on a fresh shop through the Store API and the classic checkout, and a browser test that picks payment and delivery methods like a customer. Created with AI assistance; the fee arithmetic, limits, per-method rules, exclusions and both checkouts were tested by PN Scripts with 19 unit tests, an end-to-end run on WordPress 7.1.3 and WooCommerce 11.2.1 and a browser test in Chrome.
