The gap
File lists need an icon for every kind of upload, but free sets cover a few formats, mix styles, copy software logos, and leave you to write the code that maps names and MIME types to icons.
What it is
Faylche covers 172 extensions and 28 kinds in one consistent design with four styles and every format, and ships the lookup code for JavaScript and PHP.
How you use it
The right icon for every file in your app, in the style you need, with one line of code.
A complete, logo-free file icon set with the code to use it, for web developers and product teams.
Use it when
Built for
Documents, spreadsheets, slides, images and raw photos, vector and design files, audio, video and subtitles, archives, source code, data and databases, settings, fonts, 3D models, e-books, programs, disk images, calendars, contacts, email, map data and keys, each kind with its colour and glyph.
A white page with a coloured label for light interfaces, a flat coloured page for bold lists, a line icon that takes any colour and works in dark mode, and a mini drawing without text that stays clear at 16 and 24 pixels.
SVG files with outlined letters scale to any size and need no font. PNG files come at 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels, line icons in dark and light. Sprites put a whole style in one file for inline use with a single use element.
iconName() in JavaScript and Faylche::iconName() in PHP read the file name, also .tar.gz and dotfiles, then the MIME type and its family, and return the icon; iconUrl() builds the path. The rules are the same in both, and faylche.json has them for any other language.
