What it solves

The gap

Small games often reuse one generic victory sound for every success, or mix cues from different sources that do not match in style or level.

What it is

Fanfaret gives each common game moment its own short chip cue, all made with the same synthesiser and mastered the same way, so they sound like one soundtrack.

How you use it

35 matched jingles and stingers with variations, in the two formats game engines use, with a manifest that tells you each file's purpose, length and level.

A focused pack of musical cues for retro, pixel-art and casual games, complementing longer background music rather than replacing it.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • Platformers and arcade games: level clear, extra life, coin streak, hurry up and game over
  • Puzzle and casual games: puzzle solved, star rating, combo and new record
  • RPGs and adventures: quest complete, item get, treasure chest, secret found and boss appears

Built for

  • Indie and game jam developers working on retro or pixel-art games
  • Mobile and web game studios that need a consistent set of short cues

What is inside

A cue for every moment

Victories, defeats, progress, pickups, menus and countdowns each have their own piece. The round start piece counts 3, 2, 1, go at one beat per second, and the star rating and combo pieces escalate across their variations.

One synthesiser, one sound

All pieces use the same pulse, triangle and noise channels with the same envelopes and mastering, so a level up next to a coin streak sounds like it belongs to the same game.

Ready for the engine

Files start on the first note and end with a short fade, peak at -1 dBFS and come as WAV and OGG. The CSV lists RMS levels, so you can balance volumes before you even listen.

Checked and documented

24 automated tests cover format, levels, lengths, trimming, OGG streams and reproducible builds. The README lists every piece with its use, variations and length.

Questions

Fanfaret is a pack of 35 original chiptune jingles and stingers for games, 79 files in all, each as a WAV and an OGG file.

Any game engine, audio tool or browser that plays WAV or OGG Vorbis. The files were checked with ffprobe 6.1 and played in Chrome 155 on Linux; game engines were not tested.

There are no looping background music tracks, no MP3 files and no individual sound effects such as jumps or hits. Some Safari versions do not play OGG, so use the WAV files there.

Each piece was written as a score in Python and rendered by a chip synthesiser built for the pack, then mastered and encoded with FFmpeg. Created with AI assistance; every file was rendered from code and checked by PN Scripts with an automated audio test suite and ffprobe.

It is not on sale yet. When it is, this page will link to the store; PN Scripts does not take payment on this site.
