A Slack-style channel with Monday's and Tuesday's standup status messages and the thread with three answers

What it solves

The gap

Daily standup meetings take a quarter of an hour from everyone, and hosted standup bots charge per person every month and keep your team's answers on someone else's servers.

What it is

Planyorka asks each person in Slack at a set time, collects the answers in one thread of the team channel, reminds once and closes the day with a summary of who is missing and what blocks people, on a server you control.

How you use it

The daily check-in your team needs, without the meeting, the monthly fee or your data on another company's servers.

A self-hosted standup bot for teams in Slack that want async check-ins without a monthly per-person fee, with Bulgarian holidays and texts built in.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • A remote product team that replaces its morning call with a written check-in
  • A warehouse or office team in Bulgaria that answers in Bulgarian and skips the holidays
  • An agency that runs separate standups for its own teams and for client projects

Built for

  • Team leads and small companies that use Slack
  • Developers and system administrators who prefer to host their own tools

What is inside

The day, step by step

At the start time each person gets a private message with Answer and Skip today. The form holds your questions; the answer goes into the day's thread with the person's name, and opening the form again edits the same reply. One reminder goes out after the minutes you set, and at the summary time the status message lists who did not answer.

A status you can read in seconds

The status message on top of the thread shows how many have answered out of how many are expected, mentions those still missing, names those away or skipping and lists the blockers. Answers such as “no”, “none” or “няма” do not count as blockers.

Teams, holidays and languages

Each team has its own channel, people, language, time zone, days, start, reminder and summary times and questions. Bulgarian holidays, Orthodox Easter and days off moved from the weekend are skipped, and you can add your own days off and working days. Teams outside Bulgaria switch this off.

Your server, your data

Planyorka is one Python program with one TOML file and one SQLite file. Every request from Slack is checked with your signing secret, Slack's retries are not processed twice, rate limits are respected, and planyorka check tests the token, the channels and the people before you start.

Questions

A self-hosted Slack bot for daily async standups: it asks each person in a private message, collects the answers in a form, posts them in one thread of the team channel with a live status message, reminds once and closes the day with a summary. It skips Bulgarian holidays, speaks English and Bulgarian and exports the history.

Python 3.11 or newer on a server that Slack can reach over HTTPS (a reverse proxy such as Caddy or nginx in front), and a Slack workspace where you may install apps. No other packages. It was tested with Python 3.12 on Linux.

Hosting, a web dashboard, per-person time zones and more than one reminder a day. Answers are posted by the app with each person's name, not under their own picture. Planyorka has not yet been run in a real Slack workspace and the Docker image has not been built; the tests use a fake Slack Web API.

Made by PN Scripts, a Sofia studio that builds games and tools, in Python with the standard library only, following Slack's documented Web API, Block Kit and request signing. Created with AI assistance; the code was written for this bot and checked by PN Scripts with 19 automated tests against a fake Slack Web API over HTTP and an install from the ZIP into a fresh environment.

It is not on sale yet. When it is, this page will link to the store; PN Scripts does not take payment on this site.
