Six frames of a side view: a target freezes white and squashed at the hit, then flies back while the camera shakes

What it solves

The gap

Hits feel weak until a game has shake, freeze frames, squash and flash, and the quick versions fight each other: shake overwrites the camera, hit-stop leaves the time scale stuck at zero, tweens on scale break animations, and knockback depends on the frame rate.

What it is

Tresko gives each effect its own small component that works on top of your code and puts back what it changed, plus one call that fires them all with a strength, on a core whose behaviour is covered by unit tests.

How you use it

Heavier hits in minutes, and effects that never leave your camera, time scale or scale in a broken state.

A focused, tested game feel kit for Unity developers who want punchy hits without a large framework or a tweening dependency.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • Making melee and projectile hits feel heavy in a 2D or 3D action game
  • Adding juice to pickups, coins and UI counters with punch and flash
  • Respecting a reduce screen shake option across every effect at once

Built for

  • Indie developers making action games in Unity
  • Game jam teams who need polished feedback quickly

What is inside

Shake and hit-stop

Hits add trauma, trauma falls over time and the camera moves by trauma squared, so light hits are subtle and big ones are not. The offset sits on top of your camera and is removed again. Hit-stop freezes on real time, extends when hits overlap, and gives back the time scale the game had, slow motion included.

Squash, flash and punch

Squash and stretch run on a spring solved exactly for each frame, so they look the same at 30 and 240 frames per second and keep the object's area or volume. Flash tints sprites and meshes without new materials. Punch wobbles a value and stops exactly where it started.

Knockback you can count on

A push slows down exponentially and adds up with the next one, and the total distance is exactly what you asked for, whatever the frame rate. Rigidbodies move with MovePosition so walls stop them, character controllers with Move, and plain objects through their Transform.

One call, a tested core

Impact(target, strength, from) fires everything on the target, scaled by strength and by an intensity you can tie to a settings menu. Under the components is a C# core without Unity references, with noise, springs, hit-stop clock, flash, knockback, punch and easing, covered by unit tests.

Questions

A Unity package with game feel components (camera shake, hit-stop, squash and stretch, flash, knockback, punch and an Impact facade), a plain C# core, a sample scene builder and unit tests.

Unity 2022.3 or newer is declared. It has no dependency on the Input System, Cinemachine or a tweening library. The core targets .NET Standard 2.1.

Particles, sounds and damage numbers. The Unity editor was not run: the package was compiled against Unity 6000.5.4 and its core was tested on .NET 8, but behaviour inside the editor and render pipelines was not seen. Shader Graph materials need an exposed colour property for the flash.

Made by PN Scripts, a Sofia studio that builds games and tools, and tested with unit tests of the noise, shake, springs, squash, hit-stop chains, flash, knockback at several frame rates, punch and every ease, a compile of the whole package against Unity 6000.5.4 and a check of the tarball as Package Manager receives it. Created with AI assistance; the core was checked by PN Scripts with 23 unit tests on .NET 8, and the package was compiled against Unity 6000.5.4 assemblies and checked as a buyer receives it; the Unity editor itself was not run.

It is not on sale yet. When it is, this page will link to the store; PN Scripts does not take payment on this site.
