The sample rota for December 2026 in LibreOffice Calc: 13 people, shifts coloured by type, holidays marked and totals on the right

What it solves

The gap

Shift rotas made in a blank spreadsheet or on paper hide the mistakes that cost money and break the rules: overtime nobody counted, night hours without the coefficient, eleven hours between an evening and a morning shift, and a holiday nobody planned for.

What it is

Smenka turns a grid of shift codes into each person's hours, norm and difference, night and holiday hours, and flags short rests, long runs and thin coverage as you type, with the Bulgarian holidays already in.

How you use it

Plan a month of shifts in an evening and see at once who works too much, too little or without enough rest.

A ready shift rota for Bulgarian small businesses that plan in Excel or LibreOffice and want the Labour Code numbers without payroll software.

Who it is for

Use it when

  • A hotel or restaurant planning 12-hour and day, evening and night shifts
  • A shop or pharmacy with part-time staff and weekend cover
  • A manager checking overtime and rest before the rota goes on the wall

Built for

  • Small businesses in Bulgaria that work in shifts
  • Office managers and accountants who prepare monthly rotas

What is inside

Codes in, numbers out

Pick Д, В, Н, a 12-hour shift, leave, sick or a day off from the drop-down for each person and day. Hours, the month's norm, the difference, night, holiday and weekend hours, leave and sick days are counted on the right as you type.

Checks while you plan

A rest under 12 hours between two shifts, including the last shift of the previous month, turns red, and so does a run of working days above your limit. Overtime shows in red and shortfall in blue, so you fix the plan before anyone works it.

Enough people on every shift

Under the month, the coverage rows count people on day, evening and night shifts for each date and turn red below what you need, with separate numbers for working days and for weekends and holidays.

Bulgarian calendar built in

Official holidays with Orthodox Easter and the days off moved from weekends are listed for 2026 to 2030 and change the norm and the colours. Add the days the government declares and the month follows. Print the month on one A4 page.

Questions

A monthly shift rota workbook in Bulgarian and English editions, as xlsx and ods files, with a sample month for a small hotel and its PDF print. It counts hours, norm, overtime, night and holiday hours, checks rest and coverage, and knows the Bulgarian holidays.

Microsoft Excel 2010 or newer or LibreOffice Calc 7 or newer. It uses plain formulas and conditional formatting, no macros and no internet. It was tested in LibreOffice Calc 24.2.7.

Payroll, pay rates and payslips, several months in one file, automatic planning and legal advice. Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets were not opened during testing. Days the government declares after 2026 must be added by you.

Made by PN Scripts, a Sofia studio that builds games and tools, as a workbook generated by Python code, with the Labour Code rules as PN Scripts understands them. Created with AI assistance; the formulas were checked by PN Scripts with automated tests that let LibreOffice calculate 28 random and sample workbooks and compare more than 3,000 results with an independent Python model, and by looking at every sheet.
